So, what can companies do to reduce employee stress?<\/p>\n<p>Below, we offer four tips on how your company can improve employee wellbeing.<strong><br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>1. Give Praise\u2026The Right Way<\/h2>\n<p>In her&nbsp;book&nbsp;<em>Mindset, <\/em>Carol Dweck, Professor of Psychology at Stanford University, discusses the difference between having a fixed mindset versus a growth mindset \u2013 that is to say, the difference between believing our abilities are fixed and stagnant versus the ability to continually grow, learn and develop.<\/p>\n<p>Companies can cultivate a workplace culture with a growth mindset through the way feedback, and praise is given to employees. After all, praise helps us believe in ourselves and our abilities, helps us grow in confidence, lifts our mood, encourages us to try new things and take positive risks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/christophernelson\/2015\/11\/01\/latest-research-says-praising-employees-boosts-productivity-after-all\/#3cc874ea5f80\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Concerning employee stress, a 2015 Forbes article&nbsp;referenced a study<\/a> conducted by Harvard Business School which confirmed the positive effects of praise concluding those study participants \u201cwho read positive statements about their past actions were more creative in their approach, more successful at problem-solving and less stressed out than their counterparts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inc.com\/jeff-haden\/want-to-lead-exceptional-employees-science-says-praise-them-like-this-even-though-most-bosses-do-opposite.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In an Inc. article<\/a>,&nbsp;contributor Jeff Haden shares the following as correct examples of giving praise to employees, which acknowledges results but focuses on effort:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Great job!&nbsp;<strong>It&#8217;s clear you put in a lot of time and effort<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Great work! You beat a tight&nbsp;deadline.&nbsp;<strong>Thanks for working so hard to get it done<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn2.hubspot.net\/hubfs\/2798830\/Blog-images\/reduce-employee-stress-praise.jpg\" alt=\"reduce-employee-stress-praise\" width=\"600\" style=\"width: 600px; display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\">2. Open Up The Channels of Communication<\/h2>\n<p>Effective communication is crucial to every workplace. Creating an environment with open communication leads to fewer misunderstandings and creates greater transparency.<\/p>\n<p>The key to any relationship is communication, and this applies to the relationship between employer and employees, management and colleagues. Poor communication, on the other hand, can create a sense of distrust, exclusion, and a disconnection between employees, the company and its mission.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/alankohll\/2017\/02\/22\/25-ways-to-cut-employee-stress-and-boost-productivity\/#3777e2f920f9\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Another Forbes article<\/a> emphasizes that clear communication is critical to reducing employee stress. \u201cYour employees should be able to solely focus on the job you\u2019ve hired them to do.
