So too are employee benefits.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Our findings reveal that, on average, employees who are most happy with their workplace benefits are up to a fifth more engaged than those who are least happy. Our data also suggests that it\u2019s not just quality but also quantity that can make a big difference. Employees who receive more than twenty benefits are, on average, 17% more engaged than those who receive fewer than ten.<\/p>\n<h2>What are the most popular employee benefits in 2018?<\/h2>\n<p>In our groundbreaking Employee Happiness Index 2018, we surveyed over 20,000 employees and HR leaders to find out the top 10 employee benefits for today\u2019s employees. And we didn\u2019t just ask about popular benefits, but we wanted to know which benefits employees say are most important to them, and which ones they say are their most appreciated benefits.<\/p>\n<p>And there\u2019s a difference. Employees perceive benefits in terms of importance and appreciation \u2013 and attach different kinds of value to each. In other words, the benefits which the head says we need, and the benefits which the heart says we could probably live without \u2013 but would be fun to have.<\/p>\n<p>We measured employee satisfaction and engagement across a whole range of popular benefits, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Health &amp; wellness benefits (gym, fitness, massage etc.) <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Pension benefits <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Employee insurances<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Employee healthcare<\/li>\n<li>Flexible working and vacation benefits<\/li>\n<li>Employee personal finance benefits (financial counseling, advice, services etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Employee financial incentives (bonus, commission etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Work\/life balance benefits (home cleaning, food delivery, childcare etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Career, training and skills development<\/li>\n<li>Employee clubs, associations and events<\/li>\n<li>Workplace food and drink benefits (lunch subsidy, coffee, fruit etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Employee mobility benefits (commuting, bikes, company cars etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The results were not so straightforward, but varied quite significantly across age, industry and other demographical factors. Work\/life balance benefits<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn2.hubspot.net\/hubfs\/2798830\/All%20Markets\/Blog%20images\/invest-in-employee-benefits.jpg\" alt=\"invest-in-employee-benefits\" width=\"740\" style=\"width: 740px; margin: 30px 0px 0px;\"><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Top 10 most appreciated employee benefits in 2018 <\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Health and wellness benefits are ranked as the most appreciated benefit for all employee groups \u2013 apart from (you guessed it\u2026) the workplace\u2019s youngest employees who instead opted for food and drink benefits and staff clubs. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">And that\u2019s not the only way in which Generation Z employees differ. While the same benefits feature in the top five across all other generations (albeit with varying priority), today\u2019s graduates and young professionals were the only workplace group to include work\/life balance benefits in their top five. Surprisingly, career and development benefits don\u2019t feature in the top 5 for generation Z employees \u2013 suggesting that these benefits have completed the transition from \u201cnice to have\u201d (appreciated) to \u201cneeded\u201d (important). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">10.
