Numerous studies have shown that many employees inquire about financial advisory services from their employer. As many as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fidelity.com\/about-fidelity\/employer-services\/Companies-Expand-Well-Being-Programs-and-Increase-Financial-Incentives\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">86%<\/a> of the participants in a comprehensive study made by Fidelity Investments said they would participate in programs and education on how to reach financial wellness if their employer offered it.<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Perhaps you as an employer think employees themselves bear the full responsibility for their finances. However, with many employees saying they feel stressed about their finances, especially in light of the current high cost of living, it may be time to rethink whose responsibility it actually is. Research conducted by the British multinational investment bank and financial services company Barclays shows that being stressed over one\u2019s financial situation can stutter growth and productivity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Would it surprise you to learn that 56% of employees say they are very or somewhat stressed about their financial situation?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\">The top three stress factors are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Saving for the future \u2013 67%<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Paying monthly bills \u2013 57%<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Credit card debt \u2013 42% <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/2798830.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net\/hubfs\/2798830\/All-Markets\/Blog-images\/Financial_Wellness_1.jpg\" alt=\"People improving financial wellness in their workplace\" width=\"680\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"453\" style=\"width: 680px; margin: 10px; height: auto; max-width: 100%;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Additional research shows that financial counseling services and tools aimed at budgeting, saving, and investing is something employees want \u2013 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fidelity.com\/about-fidelity\/employer-services\/Companies-Expand-Well-Being-Programs-and-Increase-Financial-Incentives\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">86%<\/a> of those surveyed saying they would participate in a financial education program provided by their employer. Without these tools in place, employees can easily fall by the wayside when it comes to their mental health. It has been claimed that a lack of wealth and\/or money concerns leads to poor health and this then leads to them stressing over financial matters at work. Financial concern is not something employees can simply shrug-off and ignore during their workday. The effects of financial concern can take a toll on attendance, engagement and performance.
