Total rewards help create greater knowledge, appreciation and transparency around rewards and benefits.<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\">In brief, a total reward statement or TRS assembles and visualizes the total value of an employee\u2019s compensation package, including salary, employee benefits, pension, insurances, and other add-ons, such as bonuses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\">Strategically, total rewards can be used to create greater employee awareness of their employer\u2019s full investment and as a tool in both recruitment and retention.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\">However, as we share in a <a href=\"\/when-and-how-often-is-an-employees-total-reward-updated\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">related post,<\/a>&nbsp;just how current and accurate the information is on an employee\u2019s total reward depends on how often it is updated and whether it is dynamic or static.<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/f.hubspotusercontent30.net\/hubfs\/2798830\/All-Markets\/Blog-images\/TRS_Data_Info_2.png\" alt=\"Total Rewards Chart Employee\" width=\"800\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"background-color: transparent; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px; width: 800px; margin: 13px 0px 5px;\"><\/p>\n<h3>Data is Everything and Everything is Data<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\">While both dynamic and static formats are useful, in order for an employee\u2019s total reward to be accurate and reflect their current total compensation, the information, needs to be accurate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\">So, how is the information that\u2019s displayed on an employee\u2019s total reward sourced, and where does the data come from? In the case of Benify\u2019s platform, our total rewards solution collects its data from primarily two sources:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px; background-color: transparent;\">1. Data generated inside the Benify platform itself, for example, when an employee enrolls in a new benefit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">2. Data provided as a secure file from third-party systems, such as payroll.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\">As tech-site <a href=\"https:\/\/gigaom.com\/2014\/02\/14\/when-everything-is-data-theres-opportunity-in-everything\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GigaOm <\/a>puts, \u201cPhysical, digital, alive, inanimate \u2014 everything is a source of data just waiting to be processed and analyzed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Total Reward Data Points and Frequency<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\">Companies assign one or more platform administrators to manage the platform and to set the frequency for the data imports. Platform administrators can, for example, choose to import the file containing data from third-party systems annually, monthly, weekly, or even daily.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\">Depending on how often the data from a third-party system is imported, employers can decide whether they wish to provide their employees with a monthly, quarterly, or yearly total reward statement. Employees can then simply log in to their Benify platform to view their current total reward anywhere, anytime, including on their smartphones via the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benify.com\/platform\/communication-engine-and-app\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Benify app<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/f.hubspotusercontent30.net\/hubfs\/2798830\/All-Markets\/Blog-images\/TRS_Data_Info_1.jpg\" alt=\"Looking Total Rewards Data\" width=\"800\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"background-color: transparent; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px; width: 800px; margin: 10px 0px 4px;\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\">Platform administrators provide Benify with a secure, standardized import file, which usually contains several data points. A data point is essentially a single fact or piece of information. In the case of total rewards, examples of data may include employment start and end dates, paygrades, salary increases, and benefits enrollments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\">Once the third-party import file has been sent to Benify, the platform takes this information and uses it to produce an employee\u2019s total reward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\">On the importance of total rewards and data, Ulf Holmgren at AstraZeneca shares, \u201cIf we were only to offer or communicate net salary earnings, we wouldn\u2019t have a chance in the UK or US.
